Ten Hartley’s Hawgs teams competed in the 2019 SAF State Championship held Saturday, May 18, 2019 on the Ohio River in Gallipolis. I arrived Thursday evening to find the river in great shape. Early Friday morning strong storms brought some heavy rains to the area and after they moved out left most of the feeder creeks running high and dirty. Friday evening another round of storms rolled through bringing more heavy rain.
By the morning of the tournament the entire river system was running high and very muddy making for tough fishing conditions. The morning launch was delayed well over an hour due to foggy conditions. Even after the launch there were pockets of fog making for some challenging boating as can be seen in below pictures. Once the fog burned off it was a nice weather day but a tough fishing day. The Hawgs had one duo bring a fish to the scale. Click here for full results.
Thanks to all the volunteers who assisted with this event!
