The team of Mikey and Braden had high hopes going into the 2019 Jr National Tournament having both fished in National Tournaments in the past. The duo put that experience to good use putting together two solid days of fishing to claim the Bassmaster Jr National Championship held in Huntingdon, Tennessee on August 6 – August 7, 2019! Two teams travelled to La Crosse, Wisconsin to take on the mighty Mississippi River. The World and National finals tournament was being put on by the Student Angler Federation (SAF) in conjunction with The Bass Federation (TBF) and Fishing League Worldwide (FLW). This was a weeklong event (June 20 – 27, 2020) that included 2-1/2 days of official practice along with guaranteed three days of competition with a 4th day of competition if making the cut for World Finals. The Hartley’s Hawgs competed at the 2020 Ohio SAF High School State Championship held on June 13, 2020 at Alum Creek Lake. The Hawgs came away with 1st and 3rd and had several other nice bags. Congrats to the teams of Nathan and Tristan and Grant and Braden! OBF has decided to cancel the July 25/26 Jr and HS State championships for this year. Instead they are planning to hold a Youth Open Tournament on Alum Creek Lake on July 25, 2020. Club Advisors will be reviewing the entry information and reaching out to the club in the coming weeks to discuss this tournament. Wednesday, June 3, 2020, Shimano North America put on a video conference which included coaches from three of the top College Bass Fishing Programs in the country. They answered many of the most commonly asked questions about College Bass Fishing. We wrapped up our 1st ever virtual tournament this past weekend and there were a lot of nice fish entered in the competition. All total we had 32 fish entered. We are looking at doing additional virtual tournaments in the future so keep an eye out for more information. Prizes will be passed out by the Club Advisors at a future date.
