OBF Junior State Championship

Several Teams from the Hartley’s Hawgs competed in the recent Ohio Bass Federation Junior State Championship on May 7, 2022. The event was originally scheduled to be held on O’Shaugnessy Reservoir but the location was moved to Alum Creek Lake due to heavy rains in the days preceding the event causing unsafe and tough fishing conditions on O’Shaugnessy. It proved to be a pretty tough fishing day for all the junior teams on Alum Creek as well. The Hawgs team of Brooks and Grant were able to grind it out and brought in the winning bag of fish. For the first time the Hartley’s Hawgs program will be having members continue competitive fishing at the College Level. Four seniors recently signed their letters of intent to join College Fishing Programs while pursuing a college degree. Great to see the continued growth of the sport and additional opportunities for these anglers. These college fishing programs will allow these young men to travel around the country competing against many other talented college anglers and will also offset some of the costs associated with the travel and participation in these college tournaments. Best of all these young men will have an opportunity to earn a collegeRead More →

Also thanks to Fishermans Central for hosting us up at their Port Clinton store. Additionally big thank you to the Ike Foundation for providing some rod/reel combos to give to the kids attending the session! Jason shared his knowledge of fishing in Northern Ohio and elsewhere. He also engaged with the kids and had the kids pick some baits at the store so he could talk about those baits and the type of equipment and presentation methods with those different baits.Read More →
