The Hartley’s Hawgs Team of Nathan and Brett placed 10th out of 398 teams in 2021 World Championship and 10th out of 236 teams in the 2021 National Championship. This event was put on by the Student Angler Federation and is a unique dual-format event as described in the Tournament Flowchart. The team of Mikey and Braden had high hopes going into the 2019 Jr National Tournament having both fished in National Tournaments in the past. The duo put that experience to good use putting together two solid days of fishing to claim the Bassmaster Jr National Championship held in Huntingdon, Tennessee on August 6 – August 7, 2019! The Hawgs sent the Duo of Braden and Nathan to compete in the Bassmaster High School National Championship held on Lake Chickamauga. The Tourney was held July 29-31, 2021 with three days of practice ahead of the tourney days. The hottest weather of the summer was happening in the Tennessee valley during the tourney with temperatures pushing 95 and 110 heat index nearly every day there. Days one and two of the tourney included the entire field of over 300 boats with the field cut down to 12 teams competing on championship saturday. Three Hartley’s Hawgs Teams travelled down to Anderson, South Carolina on Beautiful Lake Hartwell to fish for World and National Championships and possibly College Scholarship money! They are there with 398 teams from across the Country (and a few from outside the Country). The Teams of Braden/Mike, Nathan/Brett, and Grant/Dylan are representing the Hartley’s Hawgs very well. The Hartley’s Hawgs had two teams travel to mid-Michigan to fish the Bassmaster High School open on the waters of Lake Huron within Saginaw Bay. Lots of fish were caught during the practice time and tournament. The day of the tournament the weather was volatile with some pretty sizeable waves keeping many teams from making long runs out into the Bay in the interest of safety. The Hartley’s Hawgs earned the 1st and 3rd place spots in the Ohio Bass Nation State Championship High School Division held on Alum Creek Lake. Also a Hartley’s duo claimed 3rd place in the Junior Championship which was held concurrent with the High School tournament. Way to go Nathan/Braden, Mike/Rees & Brooks/Grant and Congrats to all the teams as many great fish were brought to the scales this past weekend. The Hartley’s Hawgs had several teams competing in the Ohio Bass Nation High School and Junior State Championship being held at Alum Creek Lake. The Cicada’s were also around in force to join the party. The day got off to a slow start as there was an hour plus fog delay. Once the sun got up the fog quickly burned off and the teams got out on the water and got busy. The Hartley’s Hawgs had 6 teams participate in the 3rd (of 4) stops on the Ohio Bass Nation Team Series event on Grand Lake St. Mary’s. It was a warm June day with some tough fishing but all the Hawgs teams were able to bring fish to the scales. Good job to all our participating teams. The Hartley’s Hawgs had 14 teams participating in the 2021 Student Angler Federation Ohio High School State Championship that included a field of 49 boats on Delaware Lake. A week prior to the tournament Delaware Lake was in flood stage and around 15 ft above normal pool so the fish were definitely in a transition stage. It was a beautiful May day but the fishing was pretty tough with 106 fish weighed in and only 11 teams total in the field weighing in limits. The fundraiser raffle drawing was held at the conclusion of the 2021 Student Angler Federation Tournament held May 22, 2021 @ Delaware Lake.
