Three Hartley’s Hawgs Teams travelled to Michigan to compete in the MLF High School Open held on August 21, 2021 and launching from the Detroit River. The tournament was open to Lake St Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie and our teams fished all three of these waters looking for quality fish. The 2021 Ohio High School Fishers of Men Team Trail held its first tournament (of two) on August 14 at Delaware Lake. This tourney was setup using an MLF style format where every fish over 1# was scoreable. Delaware fished tough but 7 of the 10 teams competing were able to weigh scoreable fish. The Ohio Bass Nation HS Team Trail wrapped up with the 4th tourney of 4 for the season at Delaware Lake on August 7, 2021. It was a hot day and several teams struggled to get on fish. The hawgs duo of Brett and Dylan took 2nd place for the day bringing 4 fish to the scales. Also, the overall team trail was decided and the Hawgs Duo of Nathan and Braden took home the overall victory finishing with a total of 792 points out of a possible 800. The Hawgs sent the Duo of Braden and Nathan to compete in the Bassmaster High School National Championship held on Lake Chickamauga. The Tourney was held July 29-31, 2021 with three days of practice ahead of the tourney days. The hottest weather of the summer was happening in the Tennessee valley during the tourney with temperatures pushing 95 and 110 heat index nearly every day there. Days one and two of the tourney included the entire field of over 300 boats with the field cut down to 12 teams competing on championship saturday.
