The Kokosing Valley Junior Anglers and the OSU Bass Club partnered to put on a fall tournament on Sunday, October 20, 2019 held at Alum Creek Lake. Several Hartley’s Hawgs teams participated in the event. The Hawgs took 1st and 3rd for the tournament and also claimed the big fish prize with a 4.09# largemouth. The fishing was tough that day with only 12 of 26 teams bringing fish to the scales.

The story behind the third place finishers and the winner of the big fish is a great reminder that, as Mike Iaconelli said about fishing and life in general, “Never Give Up!”. The Team of Mikey and Nathan were in the cove near the ramp but were still fishing right up to the stop time of 3:00 PM. At 2:59 they hooked up on a nice fish and got it in the boat before the clock struck 3:00 PM. Another boat happened to catch this action with a sequence of pictures shown below.
