Zak Davis was a former Walnut Springs and Hartley’s Hawgs member who tragically lost his life in a car accident. His family has created a memorial foundation in Zak’s honor to promote and support Zak’s passion of fishing. Each year the Foundation organizes and runs the ZakFest fundraiser event. The 2024 event will be held on June 22, 2024 between 12 noon – 3pm at Hoff Woods Park in Westerville, Ohio. Additionally, in 2024 the Foundation announced the creation of a $500 Scholarship for a Hartley’s Hawgs Angler that will be attending college. The event also includes some skills competitions and the attendees receive some cool swag at the event. This is the 2nd year for this program and the Hartley’s Hawgs have had members attend each year. Follow this link for a writeup about the HS Combine on the BASSMaster Website. For the first time the Hartley’s Hawgs program will be having members continue competitive fishing at the College Level. Four seniors recently signed their letters of intent to join College Fishing Programs while pursuing a college degree. Great to see the continued growth of the sport and additional opportunities for these anglers. These college fishing programs will allow these young men to travel around the country competing against many other talented college anglers and will also offset some of the costs associated with the travel and participation in these college tournaments. He also engaged with the kids and had the kids pick some baits at the store so he could talk about those baits and the type of equipment and presentation methods with those different baits.Read More →
