Hartley’s Hawgs anglers had an outstanding weekend at the Ohio Bass Nation Youth State Championship, held May 30–31 at Salt Fork Lake under sunny and warm conditions. A total of 41 teams from across Ohio competed in the Junior and High School divisions, testing their skills in what proved to be a challenging tournament.
Despite the difficult fishing conditions and the limited number of bass caught throughout the event, the young anglers demonstrated perseverance, determination, and sportsmanship while representing Hartley’s Hawgs.
The highlight of the weekend came in the Junior Division, where Cam and Asher captured the State Championship with a two-day total weight of 5.95 pounds. They also earned Big Bass honors in the junior division for the tournament with an impressive 2.53-pound largemouth bass.
Hartley’s Hawgs also placed another team on the podium, with Drew and Brayden finishing in 3rd place in the Junior Division. Thanks to their strong performances, both teams qualified for the Bassmaster Junior National Championship at Kentucky Lake.
Hartley’s Hawgs would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the volunteer boat captains who generously gave up their weekend to provide safe boats, guidance, and encouragement for the competitors. Their dedication makes events like this possible and gives young anglers the opportunity to grow both on and off the water.
We would also like to thank all of the parents and families who continue to support our anglers throughout the season. Your commitment and encouragement play a vital role in the success of our club.
The weekend also featured a club potluck picnic at Deerassic Park, providing a great opportunity for anglers, families, and volunteers to spend time together away from the water. Thank you to the organizers who coordinated the event and to everyone who contributed food, drinks, and their time to make it a success.
