Hartley’s Hawgs anglers delivered an outstanding performance at the TBF/SAF State Championship at Alum Creek on Saturday, June 6, competing against teams from across Ohio.
Fishing conditions were challenging throughout the day. Anglers faced mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies, and a strong thunderstorm moved through during the middle of the tournament, forcing competitors and boat captains to seek shelter before returning to the water. Despite the interruption, the anglers remained focused and made the most of their time on the lake.
Leading the way for Hartley’s Hawgs were brothers Caleb and Isaac Johnson, who captured the State Championship with an impressive five-fish limit weighing 14.68 pounds. Their victory earned them a spot at the SAF National Championship on Lake Cumberland later this month.
Hartley’s Hawgs also placed another team in the top four, with Landon Hackworth and Cooper Smyth finishing fourth overall with 13.29 pounds. Their strong finish also secured a berth at the SAF National Championship.
Additional Hartley’s Hawgs teams that participated included:
- Neela Carmany and Blake DiGiacomo
- Brody Biegler and Bowen Redman
- Archer Dill and Andrew Ziegler
- Kyler Tuersley and Henry Freter
The club is extremely proud of all of its anglers for their effort, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the event. Competing against some of the best youth anglers in Ohio while overcoming difficult weather conditions is an accomplishment in itself, and every team represented Hartley’s Hawgs with pride.
Hartley’s Hawgs would like to extend sincere thanks to the volunteer boat captains who generously gave their time and expertise to support the anglers throughout the tournament. We would also like to thank the tournament staff and volunteers whose hard work made the event possible, as well as the parents and families whose continued support allows these young anglers to pursue their passion for fishing.
Congratulations to all of our competitors, and best of luck to Caleb, Isaac, Landon, and Cooper as they represent Hartley’s Hawgs and Ohio at the SAF National Championship on Lake Cumberland later this month.
