Zak Davis was a former Walnut Springs and Hartley’s Hawgs member who tragically lost his life in a car accident. His family has created a memorial foundation in Zak’s honor to promote and support Zak’s passion of fishing. Each year the Foundation organizes and runs the ZakFest fundraiser event. The 2024 event will be held on June 22, 2024 between 12 noon – 3pm at Hoff Woods Park in Westerville, Ohio. Additionally, in 2024 the Foundation announced the creation of a $500 Scholarship for a Hartley’s Hawgs Angler that will be attending college. Thanks to Public Lands at Polaris for hosting the Hartley’s Hawks and other fishing organizations for their Fishing Fryday event. Had lots of nice sales and the kids got to speak with folks that wanted more info about the club. Also, had food vendors there. All in all a great night. Below are a few pictures from the event. On 3/12/23 the club met to make plastic baits from recycled plastics. All of the anglers seemed to have a good time and they all were able to take home many bags of baits. Thanks to the Dills for supplying food for the group! And big thanks to the Columbus Bassmasters for partnering with the Hawgs to assist on this project. Great job! The Gahanna Bass Anglers 42nd Annual Hoover Reservoir Open Bass Tournament is being held on Saturday May 13, 2023. The 2023 Tournament Season is starting to take shape. Take a look at the Tournaments page with updated info. There are several upcoming meetings that have been added to the events calendar. Take a look and add them to your calendar. The initial meetings will focus on firming up membership for 2023 and getting forms and dues collected. Also will be talking about the upcoming Hoover Fishing Seminar. We will be needing members and parents to helpout with prepping for the seminar. This past weekend several current and perspective future Hawgs members participated in a pond Tourney in Urbana. Weather was warm but the winds were whipping. Despite the winds still had several nice fish caught and several kids walking away with some nice prizes. Thanks to Al Evan and all the other volunteers who organized and ran this event.
