OBF has decided to cancel the July 25/26 Jr and HS State championships for this year. Instead they are planning to hold a Youth Open Tournament on Alum Creek Lake on July 25, 2020. Club Advisors will be reviewing the entry information and reaching out to the club in the coming weeks to discuss this tournament.

Below is the email from OBF explaining the decision to cancel the Championship Tournaments.

All Youth Advisor’s:

2020 has been a year that will be talked about forever in American History classes. With the Corona virus restrictions and the possibility of spreading the virus the Ohio Bass Federation had to make a decision about the 2020 Youth Championship. Many youth fishing clubs have suspended their 2020 season and parents are worried about their children catching the virus.  After talking to youth advisors and reading emails from them it is with a heavy heart that the 2020 Ohio Bass Federation Youth Championship scheduled for July 25th and 26th will be cancelled. A youth tournament will be scheduled in early 2021 for the Junior Division to qualify a team for the Junior World Championship in 2021 and we will hopefully have a Youth Championship in 2021. That being said we have sponsor money for the youth that I do not want to carry over to 2021 so as everyone was planning on fishing on July 25th or 26th we will have a youth team open at Alum Creek that day to fish for prizes. Dean Barnhart has also thought that we might have an additional award for any team that beats the weight that day that him and I bring to the scales. That idea just might happen. So please enter the tournament on July 25th. It is a no entry fee tournament open to youth members of OBF. Entry form will be on website next week. Thank you for understanding this difficult decision we have had to make.
