The Fishers of Men Ultimate Bass Challenge originally scheduled for May has been rescheduled to September 12, 2020 at Caesar Creek Lake (Wellman Ramp). Below is a fact sheet with additional information. All Hartley’s Hawgs anglers have the necessary SAF membership however each team would need to work out the registration and travel logistics on their own. On a dreary/rainy Saturday the team of Mike Abbott and Braden McNamara weighed in a 15#-15oz bag to take the FLW Erie Open on 8/1/2020 out of Sandusky’s Shelby Street Ramp. The win qualifies the pair for the 2021 SAF National Championship and World Finals being held on Lake Hartwell. Zach Pocos and Riley Kent also competed for the Hawgs in this tourney. Ohio Bass Federation has shared the entry form for the Saturday, July 25, 2020 Youth Open to be held on Alum Creek Lake. Per the entry form, the tournament hours are 6:30A – 2:30P and it is open to all youth anglers. On August 9, 2020 there will be a youth tournament hosted by Kokosing Valley Jr Anglers and OSU on Alum Creek Lake. The Hartley’s Hawgs traveled to Mosquito Creek Lake in NE Ohio to compete for the 2020 BASS High School and Junior State Championship and a spot in the BASS National Championship. This event was a two day tournament with total weight for both days determining the winners and the top two positions in each category earning a spot in the National Championship. In the Junior category Mason and Ian finished 2nd and earned a spot in this years National Championship. Congratulations boys. The hawgs brought in several other nice bags. Two teams travelled to La Crosse, Wisconsin to take on the mighty Mississippi River. The World and National finals tournament was being put on by the Student Angler Federation (SAF) in conjunction with The Bass Federation (TBF) and Fishing League Worldwide (FLW). This was a weeklong event (June 20 – 27, 2020) that included 2-1/2 days of official practice along with guaranteed three days of competition with a 4th day of competition if making the cut for World Finals. OBF has decided to cancel the July 25/26 Jr and HS State championships for this year. Instead they are planning to hold a Youth Open Tournament on Alum Creek Lake on July 25, 2020.
