The Gahanna Bass Anglers 42nd Annual Hoover Reservoir Open Bass Tournament is being held on Saturday May 13, 2023. The 2023 Tournament Season is starting to take shape. Take a look at the Tournaments page with updated info. There are several upcoming meetings that have been added to the events calendar. Take a look and add them to your calendar. The initial meetings will focus on firming up membership for 2023 and getting forms and dues collected. This past weekend several current and perspective future Hawgs members participated in a pond Tourney in Urbana. Weather was warm but the winds were whipping. Despite the winds still had several nice fish caught and several kids walking away with some nice prizes. Thanks to Al Evan and all the other volunteers who organized and ran this event. Two Hartley’s Hawgs members recently travelled south to Alabama to attend the 2nd BASS High School Combine. This is a unique event bringing together college coaches from several college fishing programs and High School Anglers looking to network and make connections with colleges. The event also includes some skills competitions and the attendees receive some cool swag at the event. The Hartley’s Hawgs had a nice contingent of teams travel up to Sandusky for the MLF High School Open held on Saturday, 9-10-2022. It was a large field of 40 teams that took on Lake Erie. All of the Hawgs Teams brought fish to the scales with our best finishing team placing 8th. Congrats to Mason and Ryan and to all the Teams that competed. The Hartley Hawgs had two teams competing at the 2022 BassMaster High School National Championship during the week of August 8 – August 13 on Lake Hartwell located on the South Carolina and Georgia border. The Team of Jake and Drew earned their spot by placing 2nd at the 2022 BASS Ohio State Championship. The Team of Nathan and Braden earned their spot by qualifying thru the BassMaster Open held on Lewis Smith Lake earlier this year. The Hartley’s Hawgs just had two different Junior Teams compete in National Championship Tournaments. The team of Archer and Hayden had a great tournament at the BASS Junior National Championship and placed 8th out of a field of junior anglers from all over the country. Way to go Boys! The Hartley’s Hawgs duo of Dylan and Andrew brought home the 2022 OBF HS State championship to the club with a nice 5 five fish limit of 16.56 pounds! Congrats Boys! It was an overcast stormy day but the fish didn’t seem to mind as Hawgs Teams brought several nice bags to the scales. The Team of Jake & Drew took home the Big Bass Honors for the tourney with a nice 4.75# largemouth! Nathan and Braden weighed five for 14.22# to earn the 5th place prize.
