As we head into another Tournament Season figured was a good time to post some helpful videos for tying some of the most common fishing knots. The most important thing with knots is having confidence in your knot(s) of choice and being able to tie them quickly and efficiently when needed. Lets get started… Below is the improved clinch knot (or Fishermans knot). Super easy to tie. Remember you can double loop thru hook/tackle eye for increased strength. Congrats to Hartley’s Hawgs junior team of Cam and Asher winning the junior division of the BASS Team Trail held on Lake Erie on April 27th. The boys weighed an impressive limit of 16.09# to earn the win. The Hawgs had five teams competing in this team trail tournament and all but one team brought fish back for the weigh in. The fish are really starting to be active this spring and we received a picture of a really nice catch from a current member. Cam’s catch measured 21″ long and weighed in at 4.9#! What a lunker! Zak Davis was a former Walnut Springs and Hartley’s Hawgs member who tragically lost his life in a car accident. His family has created a memorial foundation in Zak’s honor to promote and support Zak’s passion of fishing. Each year the Foundation organizes and runs the ZakFest fundraiser event. The 2025 event will be held on June 21, 2025 between 1pm – 3pm at Hoff Woods Park in Westerville, Ohio. The Hartley’s Hawgs Team of Connor and Hoyt travelled down to Alabama to compete in the BASS HS Open on Smith Lake near Cullman, Alabama and finished 25th out of a field of 236 boats. Their finish was good enough to punch their ticket to the Bassmaster High School National Championship to be held later this summer on Clarks Hill Lake in Georgia. On March 1, 2025 Hartley’s Hawgs partnered with the Walnut Springs Middle School Fishing club to put on the Central Ohio Fishing Seminar. The seminar was previously named the Hoover Fishing Seminar. This was the 25th year for the event. Eleven great speakers came out to talk about all different types of fishing opportunities in Central Ohio.
