OBF has set the Junior Championship for May 7, 2022 on O’Shaughnessy Lake (with Alum Creek as backup) and the High School Championship for July 17, 2022 on Sandusky Bay. The Hartley’s Hawgs sent one team to compete for the BASS Jr. National Championship in Tennessee to compete against over 60 teams from all across the country. The duo of Brooks and Grant did a great job and finished 3rd in the nation and brought in the big bass for the event with an 8#-1oz Hawg! Way to go boys! Brooks and Grant qualified for the event through the Ohio Bass Nation State Championship held earlier in the year. Three Hartley’s Hawgs Teams travelled to Michigan to compete in the MLF High School Open held on August 21, 2021 and launching from the Detroit River. The tournament was open to Lake St Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie and our teams fished all three of these waters looking for quality fish. Each duo brought in a five fish limit and from post tournament reports were catching good numbers. The winning team from NW Ohio weighed in a very solid bag of 24#-6 oz. The 2021 Ohio High School Fishers of Men Team Trail held its first tournament (of two) on August 14 at Delaware Lake. This tourney was setup using an MLF style format where every fish over 1# was scoreable. Delaware fished tough but 7 of the 10 teams competing were able to weigh scoreable fish. The Ohio Bass Nation HS Team Trail wrapped up with the 4th tourney of 4 for the season at Delaware Lake on August 7, 2021. It was a hot day and several teams struggled to get on fish. The hawgs duo of Brett and Dylan took 2nd place for the day bringing 4 fish to the scales. Also, the overall team trail was decided and the Hawgs Duo of Nathan and Braden took home the overall victory finishing with a total of 792 points out of a possible 800. The Hawgs sent the Duo of Braden and Nathan to compete in the Bassmaster High School National Championship held on Lake Chickamauga. The Tourney was held July 29-31, 2021 with three days of practice ahead of the tourney days. The hottest weather of the summer was happening in the Tennessee valley during the tourney with temperatures pushing 95 and 110 heat index nearly every day there. Days one and two of the tourney included the entire field of over 300 boats with the field cut down to 12 teams competing on championship saturday. The Hartley’s Hawgs Team of Nathan and Brett placed 10th out of 398 teams in 2021 World Championship and 10th out of 236 teams in the 2021 National Championship. This event was put on by the Student Angler Federation and is a unique dual-format event as described in the Tournament Flowchart. Three Hartley’s Hawgs Teams travelled down to Anderson, South Carolina on Beautiful Lake Hartwell to fish for World and National Championships and possibly College Scholarship money! They are there with 398 teams from across the Country (and a few from outside the Country). The Teams of Braden/Mike, Nathan/Brett, and Grant/Dylan are representing the Hartley’s Hawgs very well. The Hartley’s Hawgs had two teams travel to mid-Michigan to fish the Bassmaster High School open on the waters of Lake Huron within Saginaw Bay. Lots of fish were caught during the practice time and tournament. The day of the tournament the weather was volatile with some pretty sizeable waves keeping many teams from making long runs out into the Bay in the interest of safety.
