The Kokosing Valley Junior Anglers and the OSU Bass Club partnered to put on a fall tournament on Sunday, October 20, 2019 held at Alum Creek Lake. Several Hartley’s Hawgs teams participated in the event. The Hawgs took 1st and 3rd for the tournament and also claimed the big fish prize with a 4.09# largemouth. The fishing was tough that day with only 12 of 26 teams bringing fish to the scales. Congrats to Mason and Ian on their 1st place finish! The story behind the third place finishers and the winner of the big fish is a great reminder that, as Mike Iaconelli saidRead More →

Several Hawgs teams traveled back to Lake Erie for another shot to qualify for the SAF National Championship. This tournament was held September 7, 2019 and was intended to be open to the entire US waters of Lake Erie. Mother Nature had other ideas as the morning of the event there was a stiff wind out of the North/Northeast which restricted the tournament to within the Sandusky Bay. Everyone needed to re-group and revise thier game plans. There were a lot of fish brought to the scales with the highest finishing Hartley’s Hawgs squad finishing in 6th place. The Champs

The team of Mikey and Braden had high hopes going into the 2019 Jr National Tournament having both fished in National Tournaments in the past. The duo put that experience to good use putting together two solid days of fishing to claim the Bassmaster Jr National Championship held in Huntingdon, Tennessee on August 6 – August 7, 2019! The field included 62 teams from all over the country qualifying for this event at the State level. What an accomplishment for these two! Way to go boys! The pair was sitting in 2nd place after the first day of competition. The Boys were in the 1stRead More →

Ten Hartley’s Hawgs teams competed in the 2019 SAF State Championship held Saturday, May 18, 2019 on the Ohio River in Gallipolis. I arrived Thursday evening to find the river in great shape. Early Friday morning strong storms brought some heavy rains to the area and after they moved out left most of the feeder creeks running high and dirty. Friday evening another round of storms rolled through bringing more heavy rain. By the morning of the tournament the entire river system was running high and very muddy making for tough fishing conditions. The morning launch was delayed well over an hour due to foggyRead More →

Rocky Fork Hawg

The Hartley’s Hawgs had 15 teams competing in the 2019 BASS Nation State Championship held at Rocky Fork on April 27 – April 28, 2019. There were 8 teams competing on the High School side and 7 Jr teams. Day one brought pleasant spring weather and lots of nice fish being brought to the scales including a 6.5# Hawg caught by Hartley’s Hawgs members Caleb and Tristan competing in the High School Tournament which earned big fish honors for the tourney (and also a spot on our Lunker Board!). After day one, Caleb and Tristan sat in 2nd place. For the Jr’s, the Hawgs duoRead More →

A Hartley’s Hawgs duo traveled to Lake Cumberland to fish an FLW High School Open Tournament held on April 13, 2019. It was a loaded field with 161 boats. The team drew the 2nd launch spot and after a 30 mile boat ride in 50 degree weather they got busy. Caught 20+ fish during the day but had trouble getting keepers in the boat. They did land a nice smallmouth to bring to the scales. Still was a great learning experience on a beautiful body of water. For full results click here.
