The Hartley’s Hawgs duo of Dylan and Andrew brought home the 2022 OBF HS State championship to the club with a nice 5 five fish limit of 16.56 pounds! Congrats Boys! It was an overcast stormy day but the fish didn’t seem to mind as Hawgs Teams brought several nice bags to the scales. Four Hawgs teams traveled south to Pickwick Lake in Florence Alabama to compete in the 13th Annual High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship presented by the Student Angler Federation held the week of June 19 – 25, 2022. This event is setup in a unique format and is two tournaments in one. Daily bag limit was three fish per team to put less stress on the fish during the hot summer weather. Five Teams from the Hartley’s Hawgs travelled south to fish the Ohio River in search of the SAF State championship. It was a beautiful summer day and four of the five teams were able to bring fish back to the scales. The top two teams from this tournament qualified for the upcoming SAF National Championship. While the Hawgs fell just short of a top two finish the teams fished hard on a very tough body of water. OBF Junior State Championship

Several Teams from the Hartley’s Hawgs competed in the recent Ohio Bass Federation Junior State Championship on May 7, 2022. The event was originally scheduled to be held on O’Shaugnessy Reservoir but the location was moved to Alum Creek Lake due to heavy rains in the days preceding the event causing unsafe and tough fishing conditions on O’Shaugnessy. Getting Ready to Weigh-in

The Hartley’s Hawgs competed in the 2022 Ohio Bass Nation State Championship. This was a two day tournament for both High School and Junior teams held 4/30/22 and 5/1/22 on Rocky Fork Lake. The Duo of Archer and Hayden took home the win in the Junior Division! The Team of Jake and Drew were 2nd in the High School Division. Both teams earned a spot in the 2022 BASS National Championship. For the first time the Hartley’s Hawgs program will be having members continue competitive fishing at the College Level. Four seniors recently signed their letters of intent to join College Fishing Programs while pursuing a college degree. Great to see the continued growth of the sport and additional opportunities for these anglers. These college fishing programs will allow these young men to travel around the country competing against many other talented college anglers and will also offset some of the costs associated with the travel and participation in these college tournaments. Big Thank You to Jason Root for taking the time this past weekend to meet with nearly twenty of our Hartley’s Hawgs Club Members. Also thanks to Fishermans Central for hosting us up at their Port Clinton store. Additionally big thank you to the Ike Foundation for providing some rod/reel combos to give to the kids attending the session! Jason shared his knowledge of fishing in Northern Ohio and elsewhere.
